Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an additional layer of security on top of your password that you can enable for your Angeleno Account. Using both a password and MFA together makes it more difficult for others to access your information, especially if your password gets compromised.
When you enable MFA on your Angeleno Account, you will be asked to enter a one-time code through your choice of SMS text message, phone call, or authenticator app, every time you sign in to your Angeleno Account.
We recommend having at least two MFA factors for your Angeleno Account in case you lose one method. If you lose all of your MFA factors, you will need to delete your current Angeleno Account and create a new one.
Enable or disable your authentication method:
- Enter your email address at https://my.account.lacity.gov.
- Click the “Continue” button.
- Enter your password.
- Click the “Continue” button.
- If you have enabled a MFA factor on your Angeleno Account, authenticate using one of the factors you set up.
- You will then be taken to your My Account profile page.
- Click the “Menu” button in the upper left.
- Select “Security”.
- Click the “Enable” or “Disable” button next to the MFA factor you want to enable or disable.
- If you are enabling a MFA factor, follow all the prompts to set it up.
- If you are disabling a MFA factor, click the “Ok” button.
- You will see a message briefly appear at the bottom of the page saying your MFA factor has been set up or removed.
